According to Hewlett-Packard (HP) Product Support for the DeskJet, the following
table shows the non-printing areas for the DeskJet 500c and 550c printers. Note
that these areas change significantly depending on which print mode you are
using. For example, in Color/Composite Black mode, the whole print job shifts
.25 inch up the page in portrait orientation and .25 inch to the right in
landscape orientation.

1. Open Write,
2. Choose the Document menu,
3. Select Page Layout,
4. Enter a zero (0) in each margin setting box,
5. Click OK.
A prompt will appear displaying the message, "Current printer cannot print
outside these margins," followed by the correct settings for each margin.
