SYMPTOMS
========
After you set up Windows 95 to work in a network environment, you receive the
following error message:
The following error occurred while loading the device VNETSUP: Error 6102:
The string specified by the WORKGROUP keyword in the registry is too short.
CAUSE
=====
The registry was not correctly updated with your workgroup name information
during Setup or when you changed the workgroup name.
RESOLUTION
==========
To correct this error, follow these steps:
1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Network icon.
3. On the Identification tab, type the correct workgroup name in the Workgroup
box.
4. Click OK.
STATUS
======
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 95. We are
researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft
Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
