To use Microsoft Encarta Virtual Globe 99, you need:
- A Multimedia PC with a Pentium 60 or faster processor.
- Microsoft Windows 95 operating system or later, or Windows NT Workstation
operating system version 4.0 or later with Service Pack 3.
- 16 megabytes (MB) of RAM for Windows 95 or later (24 MB recommended); 32 MB
of RAM for Windows NT Workstation 4.0 (48 MB recommended).

- An MPC-compliant CD-ROM drive, double-speed or faster.
- A Super VGA, 256-color monitor or better supporting 640 x 480 or higher
resolution (800 x 600 recommended).
- A Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft IntelliMouse, or compatible pointing device.
- A 16-bit sound card or better (speakers or headphones recommended).
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or later (you can maintain other default
browsers after installation).
