Aptiva - 2159 - Reinstall of Mwave MIDI Samples (US)

Applicable to: United States

The following procedure will allow reinstallation of Mwave MIDI Sample on Sxx Systems. It involves removing the Mwave Samples and then reinstalling the Samples.

1. After the computer is on and the Windows Desktop appears, insert the Blue Aptiva Diagnostics CD-ROM disk into CD-ROM drive.

2. From "Start" menu select "Aptiva Installer," or select "Aptiva Installer" from the "AptivaWare" icon.

3. Select the "Show Installed Programs" tab, and then scroll down until an icon for the "Mwave MIDI Samples" is found (should be blue and next to Mwave drivers). Highlight the MIDI Samples and select "Uninstall."

4. Select "Complete Uninstall" and "OK" when prompted. select "Yes" when warned about devices not working properly. When completed, "Information" will display "UnInstall Complete." select "OK."

5. When the Uninstall is completed, you will be brought back to the Aptiva Installer page; "Show Uninstalled Programs." select "Exit." Remove Diagnostic CD from CD drive and restart the computer.

6. Reinsert Diagnostic CD disk into CD-ROM drive. Return to the Aptiva Installer. Select "Show Uninstalled Programs" tab. Select "Mwave Midi Samples" icon and select "Install." Select "OK" for "Complete Midi Samples Install."

7. When prompted for the desired location for the MIDI Samples, select "OK" for the default of "C:\MWAVE." When prompted for, "Do you want your Windows Mwave MIDI Synthesizer to use this set of MIDI Samples?" Select "Yes." Samples will then be installed.

8. When installation is complete, you will be asked to remove any diskettes, and restart your operating system. Select "OK." The system then will bring you back to the Aptiva Installer. Remove Diagnostic CD, select "Exit" then restart the computer.

NOTE: The icon for the MIDI Samples may never leave the "Show Uninstalled Programs" window. You may delete the icon, however, by right-mouse clicking on the icon and selecting "Remove Icon." This will not affect the performance of the MIDI drivers. There is no
means short of re-installing both Mwave drivers and MIDI samples to restore the icon in the "Show Installed Programs" window.
