Aptiva - What is the XCOPY command?
Applicable to: World-Wide
The XCOPY command allows you to selectively copy groups of files, including lower-level subdirectories. This command is often used when copying information from 3.5" diskettes to 5.25" diskettes and vice versa. Or, when you want to copy an entire directory and its subdirectories, XCOPY will copy them for you. However, XCOPY will not copy hidden or system files. You can also use one of the parameters of the command to verify that the information that you are copying is correct.
Therefore, unlike the COPY command, XCOPY can be used to put a complete program (directories and subdirectories, except for hidden or system files) on a diskette or set of diskettes if the program occupies more space than one diskette can provide.
