Aptiva - How to enable the Pentium III unique electronic identification number

Some models in the Aptiva product line contain the Pentium III processor from Intel. This processor features a unique electronic identification number that is designed to enhance security during electronic commerce transactions and to hamper software piracy. All Aptivas shipped with the Pentium III processor were shipped with this processor identification feature OFF (disabled) in the system BIOS. To enable this identification feature, follow these steps:
1. Power on your system and enter the user setup utility by pressing "F1" while the IBM Aptiva startup logo is displayed.
2. From the Main menu of the user setup utility, press the up arrow key to highlight Advanced Options. Then press the "Enter" key to select it.
3. From the Advanced Options menu, press the "Enter" key to select Security Options.
4. From the Security Options menu, press the up arrow key to highlight the Processor Serial Number Access line item.
5. Press the right arrow key to change this feature from DISABLED to ENABLED.
6. Press the "Escape" key 3 times to return through the user setup menus and exit the user setup utility.
7. When prompted, press the "Enter" key to save the change you have made.
