Aptiva - 2144/2168 (SL-H) Considerations: Wake Up on Ring
Applicable to: World-Wide
Situation/Solution:
If the user is using Wake Up on Ring and is having trouble getting the system to wake up in time to receive a fax or a phone call they should do the following:
1. Leave the system in suspend instead of shutting down the system.
2. Have the caller call back after the initial call that wakes up the system.
3. In Aptiva Communication Center, choose Operator then choose settings. Place answering machine settings on 2 rings.
4. Leave the system unit on when expecting faxes or using the answering machine.
Explanation:
The first ring will prompt the system to wake up. The system is in the process of waking up while the phone is still ringing. Most fax machines hang up after the fourth ring. The system may take 5 or more rings to wake up.
Note: Updating the computer to the most current BIOS level may also make Wake up on ring and Standby feature work more efficiently.
