Aptiva - Arranging Windows 3.1 desktop windows and icons
Applicable to: World-Wide
Windows typically keeps windows and icons in whatever arrangement you leave them in on the desktop. You can have Windows neatly space and align desktop windows and icons by creating an invisible desktop grid.
Follow these steps:
1. In the Main group, open the Control Panel icon.
2. Open the Desktop icon.
3. In the Granularity box under Sizing Grid click the Up or Down scroll arrow or type a number between 0 (zero) and 49 to increase or decrease the size of the grid. The grid changes in multiples of eight pixels.
EXAMPLE: If you set the granularity to 1, the desktop icons and windows align at eight-pixel intervals. If you specify a granularity of 2, the desktop icons will align at 16-pixel intervals.
4. Choose OK to confirm the settings and close the dialog box.
5. Close Control Panel.
NOTE: It is possible to change granularity settings so that icons sit on top of each other. You may want to experiment with different settings to avoid this problem.
