Aptiva - The CHDIR or CD command
Applicable to: United States
The CHDIR (or CD) is used to change directories in DOS. Most people use the abbreviated version of this command: CD. It is entered at the DOS command prompt. The syntax of the command is as follows:
CHDIR [drive:]\[path]
or
CD [drive:]\[path]
drive:\path is where you want to go, your destination, in the directory tree. If you do not specify a drive, DOS will use the current drive.
An example:
If you wish to change from the root directory, C:\>, to the WORKS directory, you can enter the following: CD\WORKS and your new prompt will be C:\WORKS\>.
Note:
Unless you need to change drives, you do not need to include the drive information in the CD statement.
