TP 760,765,770/E/ED - Pauses in video when multimedia software titles are played from CD
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
Multimedia applications played from CD have pauses in audio/video
CAUSE:
To conserve power, the CD-ROM drive is placed in sleep or standby mode after a specified number of seconds. The delay occurs while the drive is spinning back up to full speed.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 760/765/770 with an internal CD-ROM drive installed
SOLUTION:
For the 760 models, execute the ThinkPad "PS2 CDT 1" command to change the default value of the CD (Sleep) Timer from 4 seconds to one minute. (This command is documented in the appendix of the Thinkpad User's Guide.)
For the 770, change the CD-ROM drive Power setting from "Normal" to "High Performance" as follows:
Control Panel > Power > Power Mode > Change the "CD-ROM Speed" setting at
the bottom of this panel from "Normal" to "High Performance".
