TP 760 - External keyboard reset
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
External trackpoint keyboard reset can occur while typing on the external keyboard in the following configuration:
- TP760 (all)
- External Trackpoint keyboard attached through Y-cable or through Dock.
- Internal Trackpoint device enabled
When the reset occurs, the keyboard LEDs flash and some keystrokes are lost.
The files YPTF$034 and YPTF$035 are available from usual sources.
Solution:
FOR DOS AND WINDOWS 95
Fix:
During boot, the YPTF$034.SYS driver checks for the presence of an external trackpoint device. If one is detected, it automatically disables the internal trackpoint device.
Installation:
1. Copy YPTF$034.SYS to the directory of your choice on your hard disk drive.
2. Add the following line to the beginning of your CONFIG.SYS file:
DEVICE=C:\path\YPTF$034.SYS
where path indicates the directory where installed.
3. Ensure that the internal trackpoint is enabled using ThinkPad Features.
4. Shutdown and reboot for the change to take effect.
FOR OS/2 and OS/2 WARP
Fix:
During boot, the YPTF$035.SYS driver checks for the presence of an external trackpoint device. If one is detected, it automatically disables the internal trackpoint device.
Installation:
1. Copy YPTF$035.SYS to the directory of your choice on your hard disk drive.
2. Add the following line to the beginning of your CONFIG.SYS file:
DEVICE=C:\path\YPTF$035.SYS
where path indicates the directory where installed.
3. Ensure that the internal trackpoint is enabled using ThinkPad Features.
4. Shutdown and reboot for the change to take effect.
