Aptiva - 2134-C21 EDO SIMMS causing errors
Applicable to: United States
Symptom:
Upon upgrading the machines with a 4MB SIMM the one or more of the following occurs:
1. Registry Problem, Error occurred immediately after registering
2. Pixels missing in Windows 95 icon descriptions
3. Fatal exceptions
4. Page fault errors
5. GPF errors
Examination of the 4MB SIMMs shows that the SIMM Vendors are different and the SIMM identifier (on the SIMM modules of either the replacement SIMM or the original SIMMs) has a identifier number J10ZGR10910. This SIMM also has the word OKI stamped on the circuit board of the SIMM.
Solution:
The SIMMs J10ZGR10910 or OKI SIMM are not on the approved vendor list. Replace the three original 4MB SIMMs or install 2-8MB SIMMs.
