TP 750,755C - Chinese Windows Fonts Failure
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
This problem has to do with WD90C24 ThinkPad video driver under Chinese Windows 3.1 in ThinkPad 750 and ThinkPad 755C. When WD90C24 is used instead of standard VGA, the fonts will screw up. All the Chinese characters do not display correctly.
Problem Isolation Aid:
None
Fix:
Make sure to use the US-English version of ThinkPad video display driver, (which is available from DOSCSD and some other on-line services). Please change the SYSTEM.INI file to have "FONTCACHE=NO" within [VGAC24] section. In single byte character environment, it is set as YES as default, but it causes the same kind of problem when loaded into double bytes character environment.
