Aptiva - Soundblaster and Rapid Resume under OS/2 Warp
Applicable to: United States
Sound Blaster requires more than the EXIT command in the startup batch file.
1.) Create a batch file (called it INITSB.BAT) Put the following information in the file:-
REM Reinitialize Soundblaster cards (after reloading device drivers in REM DOS VDM)
SET SOUND=C:\SB16
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
C:\SB16\DIAGNOSE /S
C:\SB16\SB16SET /P /Q
<WARP-008> from APTIVA ANSWERS (#233 of 244 in whole file) line 21 of 50
C:\SB16\SBPOWER
@EXIT
2.) Use Templates to create a program icon on the desktop, make INITSB.BAT the program, and in the DOS DEVICE settings specify
C:\SB16\DRV\CTSB16.SYS /UNIT=0 /BLASTER=A:220 I:5 D:1 H:5
C:\SB16\DRV\CTMMSYS.SYS
Also set the program to start minimized and close window on exit.
3.) Change Rapid Resume options to disable 'Reload Device Drivers' (to do this hit <F1> when the square appears at the top right hand corner of the screen at the next power-on). This makes Rapid Resume complete much faster.
4.) Double-click the new icon to reload the device drivers. It runs in a second or two.
You will now have the benefit of the very fast Rapid Resume with WARP and sound.
