Aptiva - When an "Insufficient Memory" message appears after installing an option

Hardware devices, such as a CD-ROM, audio card, or scanner, are not recognized by the system when first installed. For the system to interact with an added device, a special device driver or memory-resident program is required. A negative aspect of adding device drivers or memory resident programs to the system to enable the use of these devices is that they may take up memory that is needed by other applications. This can result in an Insufficient Memory error message. However, it may be possible to move these drivers into a special area called upper memory. There are several methods for relocating some of these device drivers into the upper memory area. Please refer to the memory allocation tips for info on loading applications into extended and/or expanded memory.
