Abstract: NETFINITY 7000-M10: POST DISPLAYS ERRORS BUT MEMORY WORKS OK
SYMPTOM:
- False memory errors.
- POST displays errors, but memory works OK.
- 289 memory error will be displayed on monitor.
- Monitor will also display bank disabling and empty socket
memory fails.
Note: These errors will occur only when Hyundai 128MB DIMMs with
Header Code (on the IBM barcode label) J177N or Y177N are
installed in the system.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
- The system is a Netfinity 7000-M10 server, Type 8680,
any Model.
- The system is configured with 1-4 Processors.
- The system is configured with the following option:
512MB Memory Option p/n01k8045, FRU p/n01k7368.
- The system is configured with one or more Hyundai 128MB DIMMs.
- The Hyundai DIMM has a Header Code of J177N or Y177N.
FIX:
Replace memory DIMMs (Option p/n01k8045) with good parts from
different manufacturing source (FRU p/n01k7368).
WORKAROUND:
After POST the system will function normally. The memory
functions OK.
DETAILS:
To eliminate POST errors change memory DIMMs.
Note: Not all Hyundai DIMMs are bad, the bad Hyundai DIMM has
Header Code (on the IBM barcode label) J177N and Y177N.
