Aptiva - 2139/2153 Problem printing a graphical image

Applicable to: Hong Kong

Description:
Use the Windows Imaging software which comes with Microsoft Windows 98 to print an image larger than 20MB. When the image is being printed, only 1/4 to 1/3 of the image will be printed. After that, the printer will continue to feed several pages but each page will be blank.

Models affected:
Aptiva 2153 and 2139 systems with Lucent modem installed.

Explanation:
The modem may be experiencing a DMA conflict with the printer.

Workaround:

1. Download and install the latest modem driver. Avoid printing large images while the modem is active.
2. Set your printer port to use EPP mode instead of ECP mode and set LPT1 to use memory address 378H instead of 3BCH.
