TP 570 - Considerations for Windows 98

Below are a list of considerations when running Windows 98
- After installing the audio driver, the default selected MIDI device is External MIDI. To recover from this symptom, restart the computer and it selected MIDI device should change back to Internal MIDI.
- The left and right channels may not function properly.
- The modem does not echo back in a DOS terminal software application. To work around this symptom, disable IR.
- After selecting to return to the Root Menu during playback of a DVD movie, garbage will appear on the LCD screen for a second and then disappear.
- During the playback of some DVD titles, a blank space will appear on the left and right edges of the display.
- Some PC cards currently working on Windows 95 may not be fully functional on Windows 98. For the latest information, visit the ThinkPad home page at:

- Zoom video requires a card with explicit Windows 98 support from the card supplier.
- PC card modem cannot be used when internal modem is enabled due to resource conflict.
- To use the PC card modem, disable the internal modem or disable the following devices simultaneously on the Device Manager to release the COM1 resource for the PC card modem:
- Infrared communication port
- ThinkPad fast infrared port
- Communication port (COMA)
