Aptiva - No Active Mixer Device error for Mwave systems
Applicable to: World-Wide
No active mixer device error with the Mwave adapter card.
This information is only valid for systems with an Mwave Modem/Sound Card.
After reinstalling the Mwave drivers there is still no sound and you are unable to
open the volume control under multimedia in the Start Menu.
The message "No active mixer devices available" is flashed across the screen.
To solve this problem do the following :
1. Click on START => SETTINGS => CONTROL PANEL => MULTIMEDIA
2. Click on the ADVANCED tab at the top of the screen.
3. Scroll down to the MIXER DEVICES line and click on the + sign to the left of it.
4. Select MWAVE AUDIO and click on PROPERTIES.
5. Click on REMOVE and then close all the windows.
6. Click on START => RUN and type SYSEDIT
7. Select the SYSTEM.INI file and scroll down to the section entitled [Drivers]
8. At the end of this section add the following line :
MIXER=C:\MWW\DLL\MIXER.DLL
9. Click on FILE and then on SAVE
10. Reboot the system and the error messages will be gone.
