System:Netfinity 3500, Machine Type 8644.
BIOS:Latest version available on the web.
Windows NT Build:Beta 3 RC1 (Build 2003) or higher.
Original Preload:No.
WinNT Install Media:CD-ROM.
Pre-Install Actions
Note: These instructions are for installing a "new install" of Windows 2000 Server on a hard drive. These instructions do not cover upgrading from another operating system or previous version of Windows NT. See install instructions, below.
1. Check the BIOS version currently installed on your system. Make sure you have the latest version available on the web at http://www.pc.ibm.com/support

Install Instructions
1. Boot system on Windows 2000 Setup CD.
2. The Windows NT Server Setup Screen will display after a few moments. Follow the on-screen instructions and files will be copied to the hard drive.
3. Remove any disk in the Floppy and Press Enter to restart the system.
4. Windows NT Setup Screen comes up, Press Enter twice to continue.
5. Read the License Agreement and press F8 to accept this agreement.
6. Choose the partition to install NT to. (C: is suggested.) Press Enter to continue.
7. Choose to convert to NTFS or FAT, and press Enter to continue.
8. NT will examine your hard drive, copy files to the drive, and reboot. The system will then boot to the graphical portion of setup (Windows 2000 Setup Wizard), displaying the Welcome Screen, after NT is fully loaded.
9. Press next to continue.
10. WinNT installs and configures devices.
11. Regional Settings screen - Change only if you do not want US settings.
12. Press next to continue.
13. Personalize Your Software screen - fill in both Name and Organization, then press next to continue.
14. Licensing Mode screen - choose appropriate options.
15. Press next to continue.
16. Computer Name and Administrator Password screen - set system name and administrative password, then press next to continue.
17. Windows 2000 Components screen - choose the components you would like installed
18. Select Next to continue.
19. Date and Time Settings - Set Time, Date, and Time Zone.
20. Press next to continue.
21. Network Settings screen - NT will install Windows NT Networking.
22. Press next to continue.
23. Choose Typical or Custom Settings.
24. Press next to continue.
25. Set up network components as needed by your network. Windows 2000 should detect your NIC Adapter(s) automatically.
26. Press next to continue.
27. Installing Components - Windows NT will install components and any additional "support," then you may press Next to continue.
28. Perform Final Tasks - Win NT will: Install start menu items; Register components; Save settings; and Remove any temporary files used.
29. Then press Finish to complete the Windows 2000 Setup Wizard.
30. The system should reboot, and Windows 2000 should load.
31. Press CTRL - ALT - DEL to logon.
32. When the desktop is displayed, you may see the "Windows 2000 Configure Your Server" wizard, which will further help you setup your server. This wizard will help configure many of the components you chose to install.
