Abstract: Netfinity 7000 or PC Server 704: Performance problems

SYMPTOMS:
Performance problems.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
The system is any of the following IBM servers:


The system's diagnostics pass.

The system displays the symptom (above).

FIX:
Reboot the system into the F1 Set-up Utility. Choose "Advanced" from the top of the screen, then choose "Advanced Chipset Configuration". Check the setting of "Cache Mode", it must be "Write Back." If it is set to "Write Thru" then a severe performance issue will be seen on the server and the setting needs to be changed to "Write Back".
