TP 600 - Memory count at bottom of screen on bootup
Applicable to: EMEA
Symptom:
When powering on the ThinkPad, a horizontal line appears in the bottom half of the screen, with the memory count located below this line and then the system hangs.
Configuration:
ThinkPad 600
Solution:
Power off the ThinkPad. Open the DIMM cover on the back of the machine and remove the RTC battery connector. Wait 10 seconds, then reseat the connector.
Additional information:
The symptom is caused by corrupt NVRAM settings in the BIOS. Reseating the cable will effectively refresh these settings and the problem will not re-occur.
