TP 570 - Other Considerations
Applicable to: World-Wide
Other Considerations
Suspend/Resume Limitations
- RI resume PC Card modem is only supported in CardSoft mode with CardWorks under Windows 95.
-
- Do not remove or install PC cards during suspend mode.
-
- ATA cards do not go into suspend or hibernate mode if an ATA card is mounted in AC mode under Window NT 4.0 Workstations.
-
- When 256 color mode is set, the background color of the active desktop can be changed after suspend/resume.
-
Other Limitations
- Hardware overlay window (MPEG playback by ActiveMovie) does not fit the client playback window when the right side of the playback window is clipped with LCD expansion. Move the overlay window to the center side without clipping the window or disabling LCD expansion.
-
- When USB is disabled/enabled by the Windows 95 Device Manager, the system needs to be restarted. If the system is not restarted, suspension/hibernation can cause the system to hang or halt.
-
- Use the Windows 95 control panel to stop PC Cards before entering suspend. If a PC Card is stopped with CardWizard before entering suspend, CardWizard may not recognize the PC Card status correctly.
-
- CardBus cards that do not support CCLKRUN# may not work correctly.
-
- DMA for IR cannot be disabled by ThinkPad Utility.
-
- Video performance is reduced in 64K or 16M color mode.
-
-
PC Card Limitations
- PC card point enablers can write directly to the hardware, bypassing socket and card services. Writing directly to the hardware can cause problems. Point enablers can also interfere with client device drivers that communicate with socket and card services. Additional testing in the specific environments is recommended.
-
- When installing two type II PC Card communications cards in the PC Card slot, cable interference may allow only one card to be used.
-
- Dial-up connection may not be disconnected when the system enters suspend mode. Disconnection occurs only when PC Card modem is used.
-
- You can install or remove the PC Card without turning off the system. Refer to the instructions that come with the PC Card.
