AS/400: Release 3 Additional Function - II11382

This document includes information about the IBM Network Station and IBM Network Station Manager AS/400 product. It relates to AS/400 systems running R370, R410, R420, R430 and subsequent version and release levels, as needed. Since this document will be updated on a regular basis, it is suggested it be ordered and read on a regular basis as well. This document is a continuation of document II11118 .

Note: You need to apply all the OS/400 and Network Station Manager PTFs before installing the PTFs below. To ensure this, order and apply group PTF SF99082 regardless of which way you acquired the Network Station Manager software. This group PTF will include all the OS/400 prerequisites as well as all the latest Network Station Manager PTFs (including the ones below). Refer to document: II10405 - AS/400: NSM Release 3 Network Station Manager Reference, for more information about group PTF SF99082.

Warning: You should always apply the entire set of PTFs listed below for each Network Station Manager release (NSM 3.0.1, NSM 3.0.2, and so on). Failure to do so could cause unpredictable results and will make it difficult to isolate the problem.

and select Software on CD. AS/400 PTF Fix Description NSM 3.0.1 (PTF1) Available Electronically September 4, 1998. It includes new boot monitor V3.0.4.


  1. Some non-English (not 8859-1 encoding keys are not displayed by Java.
  2. It is too difficult to enable JITC on a series 1000.
  3. After a Java low memory message, the network station panics or hangs.
  4. There is a memory leak when handling images or fonts.
  5. Out of memory errors. This includes errors when running with JITC_ENABLED=YES.
  6. This fix corrects a panic that resulted in kmfree being on the analyzed dump stack.
  7. On the NWS 1000, and NWS 300, the JVM seems to be incorrectly fetching the value of #729FFF for the SystemColor:window for a Java application. The incorrect color is displayed on the right half of the given application.
  8. Java code that works with Host Access Class Library APIs does not work with the Network Station Presentation Space PIs.







SF51440 - ICA client (Japanese Only) NSM 3.0.3 (PTF 2)Available Electronically on November 20, 1998. It includes new boot monitor V3.0.7 included in PTF SF52068.
Note: You need to restart the Login Daemon after upgrading to this new release of NSM on the AS/400 system.
To end the login Daemon, use the following command:

  1. CALL QYTC/QYTCUSVR ('ENDTCPSVR ')
  2. To Start it, use: CALL QYTC/QYTCUSVR ('STRTCPSVR ')
