Notes:
(1) MHz only measures microprocessor internal clock speed, not application performance. Many factors affect application performance.
(2) The IBM ThinkPad 770E is also designed to recognize up to 288 MB of addressable memory in the models with the new Mobile Pentium II processor at 266MHz. Current available memory options allow memory expansion up to 160 MB using two 64 MB SDRAM SO DIMMs in the two available slots for memory expansion. Memory expansion beyond 160 MB will depend on the availability of memory options larger than 64 MB SDRAM SO DIMMs built to IBM ThinkPad 770 notebook specifications. Such availability cannot be guaranteed.
(3) GB equals 1,000 million bytes and MB equals one million bytes when referring to hard disk. Capacity accessible by end user may vary.
(4) ThinkPad Proven Products are offered and tested by a third party manufacturer. Not warranted or supported by IBM.
(5) Excludes external diskette drive. Actual weight may vary.

KEYBOARD AND TRACKPOINT WITH ENHANCED FEATURES: The keyboard has the familiar layout of a ThinkPad notebook with a function key capability that allows you to quickly access system functions such as power management control, plus there is a larger palm-rest area. The TrackPoint(R) pointing device with enhanced features incorporates the new "Press-to-Select" and "Release-to-Select" function of the TrackPoint.

Just tap the TrackPoint pointing device to speed icon launches and reduce keystrokes. The new programmable center button enables fast scrolling of Web sites and documents, or fast panning across wide spreadsheets. Or, switch to the INNOVATIVE MAGNIFYING GLASS feature to enlarge screen views in any application.

PROCESSOR: A Mobile Pentium II processor at 266 MHz, 512 KB of L2 cache, yields exceptional performance.

MEMORY: The ThinkPad 770E systems use the new fast 144-pin, 64-bit SDRAM SO DIMM, 3 V, non-parity memory. 32 MB of new, fast SDRAM SO DIMM system memory (RAM) is standard.

The IBM ThinkPad 770E is also designed to recognize up to 288 MB of addressable memory. (Current available memory options allow memory expansion up to 160 MB using two 64MB SDRAM SO DIMMs in the two user accessible slots for memory expansion.)

Memory expansion beyond 160 MB will depend on the availability of memory options larger than 64 MB SDRAM SO DIMMs built to IBM ThinkPad 770 specifications. This availability cannot be guaranteed.

PCMCIA: The Type III slot accommodates either two Type I, two Type II, or one Type III PC card. The slot supports the CardBus adapters(6) PC card and the ZV (Zoomed Video) adapter.
(6) Currently available in DOS, Windows 3.1, and Windows 95.

STORAGE: The standard customer-removable, customer-installable hard drive holds up to 5.1 GB of data. The new 1.44 MB diskette drive (FDD) comes standard. The FDD can either be plugged directly into Ultrabay II, or used externally with the cable supplied with the system. It comes in its own enclosure.

THINKPAD ULTRABAY II: The ThinkPad Ultrabay II, also standard with the system, is an intelligent bay that switches its pinout signals to allow the installation of the standard and optional feature in what would normally be just the FDD bay.
Ultrabay II accommodates:
o Second Li-Ion battery
o Second HDD
o An FDD or CD-ROM or a DVD drive or ZIP drive
o The 760 family hard disk drive options if the ThinkPad 770 Second HDD adapter option is used

The installation of a second hard drive in the Ultrabay II requires the ThinkPad 770 Second HDD Adapter optional feature.

MULTIMEDIA CAPABILITY: Consider the optional DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter Upgrade if you need more advanced and integrated multimedia capability -- 3D audio, and video combined.

The integrated Dolby(R) Digital sound provides five discreet channels, and with a customer supplied amplifier and speakers, you can enjoy the richness of Dolby(R) sound. This option supports total Image Video, full MPEG-2, and MPEG-2 HRR support, video in and video out, and other features. For maximum power and DVD movie playback, use the optional DVD drive with this option.

Create dazzling presentations or surf the Internet using:
o The huge 14.1-inch TFT active matrix display
o Mobile Pentium II processor
o Maximum flexibility with choice of optional DVD drive or 24X-10X(7) (variable speed) CD-ROM drive
o High-quality speakers and standard SRS 3D sound
o Software supported MPEG-1 playback
(7) Variable read rate. Actual playback speed will vary and is often less than the maximum possible.

Other multimedia features include:
o Hardware supported full MPEG-2 playback
o Video in (video capture)
o Playback over TV (video out)
o Support for Dolby(R) Digital audio for lively theater-like sound with optional DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter

AUDIO: The audio capability on the system board and the integrated microphone allow voice annotation and audio capability. The system is equipped with audio in/out jacks for stereo speakers, headphone, or external microphone. A separate dial volume control is located to the side of the keyboard on the system. The system supports SRS 3D audio and Sound Blaster Pro audio applications.

VIDEO: The new ThinkPad 770E systems have integrated 3D graphics capability, providing exceptional video performance and use with 3D Web sites, business applications, and 3D video games. It has 4 MB of Video RAM.

PREMIER WINDOWS NT WORKSTATION SUPPORT IN A MOBILE PLATFORM: Full power management, Ultrabay II warm swap capability, and hot plug PC Card support give you most of the key features needed to take advantage of Windows NT's security, scalability, and reliability. And that's not all. With the ThinkPad 770E, IBM provides additional Windows NT functional extensions that were normally available only to Windows 95 mobile users including MPEG-2, video capture, and other NT extensions.

INFRARED: The systems have fast (up to 4.0 Mbps) IR transceivers in front and back for wireless file and data transfer and printing. The ThinkPad 770E is designed for compliance with the Infrared Data Association (IrDA) IR data link specification Version 1.1 (up to 4Mbps).

OTHER FEATURES: The ThinkPad 770E systems have the full complement of ports (enhanced parallel, serial, USB port, and external display). The FDD external attachment port is standard on all 770E models. In addition, a 240-pin connector supports the following:

THINKPAD DOCKING SOLUTIONS
o IBM SelectaBase 770
o IBM SelectaDock I
o IBM SelectaDock II
o IBM SelectaDock III

DOCKING SOLUTION DETAILS
o Simple port replication and cable management with the SelectaBase 770
o Enhanced port replication capability when the PC Card Enabler is attached to SelectaBase 770 to provide two PC CardBus slots
o Desktop functionality and manageability via the SelectaBase 770 and SelectaDock III
o ThinkPad 770E and SelectaBase 770 are backward compatible with SelectaDock I and II
