Aptiva - Jack Nicklaus Golf locking up in Windows 95
Applicable to: United States
Sometimes Jack Nicklaus Golf may lock up. This usually occurs on startup. Please perform the following steps to fix this problem.
NOTE: There are 2 icons for this application. Each icon needs to be configured separately.
For the icon in the "Games" Folder:
1. Right mouse click on the Task Bar
2. Click on Properties
3. Click on Start Menu Program
4. Click on Advanced
5. Double-click on the Programs icon
6. Double-click on the Accessories icon
7. Double-click on the Games icon
8. Right-click once on Jack Nicklaus Golf
9. Click on Properties
10. Click on Program
11. Click on Advanced
12. Put a check mark in MS DOS Mode
13. Put a check mark in Warn Before Entering
14. Click on OK
15. Click on OK again.
For the icon in the "Aptiva" Entertainment Folder:
1. Double-click on Aptiva Entertainment
2. Double-click on Jack Nicklaus Golf
3. Right-click once on Jack Nicklaus Golf's shortcut
4. Click on Properties
5. Click on Program
6. Click on Advanced
7. Put a check mark in MS DOS Mode
8. Put a check mark in Warn Before Entering
9. Click on OK
10. Click on OK again.
If your system continues to lockup:
The problem may be caused by the printer setup.
1. Check to see if you have a printer setup.
2. Click on START
3. Click on SETTINGS
4. Click on PRINTERS
5. If you have one setup but none attached, delete it from this printer window. If you have a printer and it is setup, turn it on
before starting JN golf game
OR
6. Disable port setting "spool MS-DOS Printer" jobs as follows:
-a. Click on START
-b. Click on SETTINGS
-c. Click on PRINTERS
-d. Click right mouse button on installed printer icon
-e. Click on "properties"
-f. Click on "details"
-g. Click on "port settings"
-h. Remove check mark from "spool MS-DOS print jobs".
-i. Click on "OK".
The game should now load properly.
