Aptiva - 2140/2142 Considerations - CompuServe

Dialup Networking (DUN) errors when trying to logon to Compuserve.

Detail:
When trying to logon to Compuserve, occaisionally, you may receive an "Error Opening DUN Phonebook".

Answer / Workaround:
This is a known problem with Compuserve. The workaround for this problem is to goto Control Panel, Dial Up Networking, select the DUN Icon for Compuserve, edit the DUN properties and type in your ID, password and then change the phone number to the correct number. You should now be able to logon without problems. Also, upgrading the Compuserve code to the latest levels may resolve problem.

Cannot end new member sign-up and setup current member.

Detail:
Once you attempt to sign on as a "New Member" to Compuserve, the user cannot back out (or cancel) the setup and start again using the "Currrent Member" status. The information in the "Preferences" screen keeps erasing, and will not store the User ID, or Password.

Answer / Workaround:
The only way for a "Current Member" to sign on after this scenario, is to create a new "Connection" in "Preferences" and enter the "current member info" in the Connection Settings field and click "OK". Now the user will be able to use their current member info with the new connection. This if resolved by upgrading to Compuserve 3.02.

Skewed graphics in Internet section.

Detail:
To Re-create: From the main screen choose Internet. A scroll bar comes up to display the list of Internet Options. If you scroll down, the graphics are skewed starting with the choice "Ourworld" and below.

Answer / Workaround:
This is a known problem with this version of Compuserve. There is no workaround, however, updgrading to the latest Compuserve version may resolve problems.

Connected to CS3' status window remains open.

Detail:
After connecting to Compuserve, the status window with the message: 'Connected to CS3' remains open, you can get rid of it by clicking 'ok' in its window.

Answer / Workaround:
This will be fixed in the 3.02 version of Compuserve.
