Aptiva - Mwave OS/2 Fix Available for Trap Error when exiting WIN-OS/2 Session

The following fix for MWAVE in the OS/2 environment is available on the IBM BBS in the OS2 area:

MWAVEVDD.EXE - (APAR JR09434 TRAP EXITING WIN/OS2 MWAVE)

This file contains the updated mwavevdd.sys file referenced below.

ERROR DESCRIPTION:
Merlin trap at _PGUnlock + 0xA0 (fff5e4a0 for GA kernel) exiting winos2 sessions.

LOCAL FIX:
Disable MWAVE sound in winos2 sessions.

PROBLEM SUMMARY:
This is applicable to any machine with any Mwave series audio adapter installed. If WIN/OS2 support is installed (mwavevdd.sys) and system sounds are enabled, the system will trap when WIN/OS2 shuts down (i.e. when the last WIN/OS2 session terminates).

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
Merlin fixpak 0 or later and a new mwavevdd.sys (11-12-96 or later) from the IBM PC Company will prevent the trap.

This fix is for ThinkPad and Aptiva systems listed below.
