IBM PC330/PC350 - Will not shut down with Ethernet card installed
Applicable to: World-Wide
Problem:
PC330/PC350, 6577 or 6587, will not shut down with Ethernet card installed. Upon attempting to shutdown, the machine simply warm boots, cold boots, or locks up.
Problem Isolation Aids:
This happens on shrinkwrap as well as the IBM preload.
This happens only when IDE Busmastering drivers containing the file IDEATAPI.MPD dated 2-28-96 or before are installed.
Solution:
Update the Busmaster drivers with file name Z23T11A.EXE. This contains IDEATAPI.MPD dated 5-22-97.
Double Click here to obtain Z23T11A.EXE -
Note: After installing the driver, upon reboot, one of two things will happen.
1. With shrinkwrap, a question will appear saying the the needed file for the ATAPI could not be found. The readme file address' this issue only and states that you should use the path c:\windows\system\iusubsys
2. For IBM preloads, the Windows 95 CAB files are contained on the hard drive. Install Wizard will find these and give a warning saying that you are trying to install a version of a driver that is older than the one your system is using. 'Yes' should be clicked. Windows 95 is trying to install the IDEATAPI.MPD from the CAB directory and it is indeed older than the one your system is using, the one you just installed.
