Aptiva - 2134/2176 Speaker problems

Applicable to: United States

1. If the customer is experiencing a humming, crackling, or buzzing sound, unplug, in the speakers, inspect connectors for dirt or contaminates. Replug all of the speaker cables including the DC Power cable (located alongside fan on back of system). If this does not clear up the problem, you should recommend removing and reseating the Mwave card, and ensure it is securely held down by the retaining screw after replacing. If the customer has a 12 volt DC Converter that fits the speakers they should try using it. If the above is performed, and the problem continues, replace the speakers. If this does not solve the problem, replace the speakers.

2. If the complaint is that there is no power (green power light will not come on), there is a chance that the DC power outlet for the speakers (back of system unit near fan) is not connected to motherboard. If the speakers are plugged in, both line out and DC power and there is no sound, remove system cover and check connector J29. The DC outlet connector wires should be connected to this connector.
