Aptiva - Configuring IBM AntiVirus to auto check for viruses
Applicable to: World-Wide
Question:
How can I setup IBM AntiVirus to automatically check for viruses on my Aptiva?
Answer:
In order to setup IBM AntiVirus you need to perform the following:
1. Open the "AptivaWare" window.
2. Find the "Custom Tools" icon and open it up.
3. Click on the "Virus Checking" button.
4. You should see a window with menus across the top. Find the "SETUP" menu on the upper left of this window and click on it. If you see a different window then proceed below to *Extra*.
5. Now click on "AUTOMATED CHECK".
6. From the new window, pick how often you would like to check for viruses. For example pick "EVERY BOOT" to have the machine check for viruses every time it starts up (excluding Rapid Resume starts).
7. Click on the "SAVE SETTINGS" button.
8. Click on "OK", then click on "CANCEL".
9. Click on the "CHECK" menu and choose "EXIT".
*Extra*
If you see a window that does not have any menus but does have the options for ENABLED and DISABLED, then you need to click on the ENABLED option. After this, click "OK" three times and virus checking will be turned on. Note: The reason you do not have the window as described above is that your AntiVirus application is a different version.
