Servers - IBM Netfinity/PC Server 90-Day Start Up Support

IBM Netfinity and IBM PC Server systems come with an industry-leading, 3 year, on-site warranty. This warranty covers IBM parts installed in the server and includes labor for replacement of defective IBM parts. Options by IBM (OBI), when installed in an IBM Netfinity or IBM PC Server system, are covered under the system warranty, or the option warranty, whichever is greater. During the warranty period, product specialists in the PS HelpCenter assist callers in determining if a problem is related to hardware or software and deciding what action is necessary to fix the problem. If the problem is determined to be hardware, IBM will explain the service options available and, if appropriate, direct how to have the machine serviced.

Also included with the purchase of any IBM Netfinity and IBM PC Server system is a comprehensive support program designed to speed installation of both hardware and system software, as well as assist in resolving other technical challenges associated with the installation of new systems. For a period of 90 days from the first call to the HelpCenter, customers receive installation, setup and configuration support of the following:

IBM Netfinity/PC Server hardware

Network operating systems1, including:

• Citrix WinFrame Enterprise
• Microsoft Windows NT (Server, Workstation, Terminal Server Edition, Enterprise Edition)
• Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server (for selected IBM Netfinity servers) See RPC-0521
• NCD WinCenter Pro
• Novell NetWare and intraNetWare
• OS/2 Warp Server
• SCO OpenServer and UnixWare

Selected network interface cards and workstation adapters from IBM and the following non-IBM vendors:

• 3Com
• Madge Networks
• Standard Microsystems Corporation

The IBM Netfinity/PC Server Start Up Support Program provides assistance with the:

• setup, installation, and configuration of base network operating systems and options from vendors identified as part of the Server Start Up Support program, including problem determination and problem ownership for the supported network operating systems and tested options
• first client connection to verify connectivity

Following the 90-day Server Start Up period, assistance is available through IBM HelpWare and IBM ServicePac for non-warranty problems and non-IBM hardware and software supported under the Start Up Support Program.
