TP 600E,770X - Configuring DVDExpress for use under Windows 95 OSR2

SYMPTOM:
Configuring the Mediamatics DVDExpress application on the ThinkPad 600E or 770X under Windows 95 OSR2
CONFIGURATION:
ThinkPad 600E 0r 770X running Windows 95 OSR2 with the DVD drive using Mediamatics DVDExpress.
SOLUTION:

1) Load Windows 95 OSR2. While Windows 95 OSR2 is loading, it will find new hardware and prompt for driver diskettes. Let the system look for drivers. Just press Enter when prompted and reboot when prompted. Do not add the Video and Audio drivers at this time.
2) Enable DMA on the CD-ROM settings in the Device Manager.
a. Click on Start->Settings->Control Panel.
b. Double click on the System icon.
c. Select the Device Manager tab.
d. Expand the CD-ROM and double-click on the DVD drive.
e. Select the Settings tab and set the check box for DMA.
NOTE: On the 770X, leaving the DMA setting enabled may cause distorted video playback.
3) Install the latest Video driver for Windows 95 per the instructions on the IBM Thinkpad Web Site.
4) Install the latest Audio driver for Windows 95 per the instructions on the IBM Thinkpad Web Site.
5) Install DirectX 6.0 and DirectX Media 6.0 Runtime from Microsoft. This is available for download from http://www.microsoft.com/directx/default.asp. On this DirectX download page, you must download both the DirectX 6.0 for users and DirectX Media 6.0 Run Time. The files associated with these updates are DX6ENG.EXE and ENDUSER.EXE, respectively. You should execute DX6ENG.EXE first and then ENDUSER.EXE. This will install the DirectX support required for the Mediamatics DVDExpress software.
6) Install DVDExpress from the Customization CD that came with the ThinkPad.
a. Insert the Customization CD-ROM into the DVD Drive.
b. Click on System Customization.
c. Click on the Thinkpad Software Select Wizard.
d. You will find Mediamatics DVD Express in the list of software. Click on it to load it.
7) Ensure that you are at the latest level of Thinkpad Utilities. The machine may hang during shutdown otherwise.
