Aptiva - Connecting to other Internet service providers (ISP)

Service Information:
To connect to an Internet Service Provider (ISP), one can use the "DialUp Networking" feature in Windows 95.
The setup procedure is as follows:
1. Go to My Computer->Dial-up Networking->Make New Connection ( For 1st time installation: go to My Computer->Dial-up Networking )
2. Click [Next] and input your ISP name.
3. Make sure your modem selection is IBM Aptiva 28.8 Mwave Data Fax and click [Next]
4. Input the ISP telephone number and select the country code (eg. Hong Kong 852)
5. Click [Next] and press finish.
You've now created your ISP dial-up icon in the Dial-up Networking group. Double click the ISP dial-up icon to dial to your ISP and connect to the Internet.
Remarks;
1. If your ISP uses PPP connection (check with your ISP), the connection will be OK usually.
If not, follow the following procedure:
a. Right click your ISP dial-up icon and select Properties
b. Press configure->options
c. Check the "bring up terminal windows after dialing" and press OK Dial to your ISP by double clicking the ISP dial-up icon. A windows will be displayed after the dialing. Type in your username and password. Type in PPP [Enter] to activate the PPP connection. Press the Continue button to let Windows 95 handle all the things for you.
2. If your ISP uses SLIP, please consult your ISP for setting up Windows 95 SLIP dial-up networking.
