TP General - IBM PCMCIA CD-ROM (1969007) and Windows 95

The IBM PCMCIA CD-ROM (1969007) can be recognised by Windows 95 using the DOS driver on the PCMCIA CD-ROM option diskette after you update your system configuration as below.

1. You have to remove Windows 95 PCMCIA support if it has already been installed. If a PCMCIA icon is present in the Control Panel folder, Windows 95 PCMCIA support is installed. To remove Windows 95 PCMCIA support you have to click the System Icon in Control panel, select Device Manager, select PCMCIA Controller then click Remove. The PCMCIA CD-ROM Driver is 16 bit driver and only works with 16 bit PCMCIA support.
2. Restart the system after the Windows 95 PCMCIA support is removed.
3. Install the Play At Will or Ezplay, which includes 16 bit PCMCIA support. You can install it from the MS-DOS Prompt window.
4. Install the PCMCIA CD-ROM Driver from the PCMCIA CD-ROM Option diskette.
5. Restart the system.
6. A CD-ROM icon appears in My Computer window, which corresponds to the PCMCIA CD-ROM (1969007).

Note:
After removing Windows 95 PCMCIA support, the Windows 95 PCMCIA Plug and Play function can no longer be used. If PC-Cards other than the PCMCIA CD-ROM Card need to be used, the DOS device drivers for these devices must be installed as was done for the PCMCIA CD-ROM.
