TP 760,765 - Considerations when using 6542-103 G40 Monitor with XGA ThinkPad models
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
The screen image is visible only when the ThinkPad is in "CRT Only Mode." When the system is set to "Both LCD & CRT Mode," the monitor will not display the screen image. This only occurs on XGA (1024x768) model ThinkPads.
Cause:
The G40 Monitor does not support 60Hz refresh rate at 1024x768 resolution. 43Hz is the only supported refresh rate at 1024x768, which the ThinkPad will only supply when in CRT Only Mode.
Resolution:
If use of both CRT and LCD Panel is required on XGA ThinkPads, then a monitor that supports 60Hz at 1024x768 must be used. Otherwise, CRT Only mode will allow the monitor to function at 43Hz.
