The following tables list the controllers supported by DirectX and which ThinkPad models they correspond to. According to Microsoft, DirectX 6.0 was designed to be fully backward compatible. Software that ran on earlier releases of DirectX should work on DirectX 6.0. For an updated listing of controllers supported by DirectX, checkout Microsoft's DirectX Web page.

When installing DirectX support it will prompt you if you want to replace your audio and video drivers. Select no. If you had the installation program replace your existing drivers and are experiencing problems with either you video or audio, you will want to reinstall the audio and/or video driver for your ThinkPad. Instructions can be found in your User's Guide. You can download the latest drivers by clicking here.
