Question:
I have an Aptiva preloaded with Windows 95. When I open the MY COMPUTER icon where it used to have a 3.5" floppy drive it now says REMOVABLE DISK. How can I correct his?
Answer:
If you are in Windows 95 and inside MY COMPUTER you see a REMOVABLE DISK drive where the 3.5" FLOPPY
DISK drive used to be, then try these steps to correct the problem.
1. Click on "START" and choose "SHUTDOWN". Click on "SHUTDOWN THE COMPUTER" and then click "YES".
2. Once the machine has powered off, wait 10 seconds and turn it on.
3. When it is booting, press F1 when you see the IBM logo and a box of ~~~~~ characters in the top right hand side of the screen.
4. You should now be at a blue menu. Highlight "ADVANCED OPTIONS" and press "Enter".
5. Highlight "SECURITY OPTIONS" and press "Enter".
6. Find the "DISKETTE DRIVE ACCESS" and change its setting to ENABLED.
7. Press the "ESC" key three times. Choose the option to "Save and Exit". When Windows 95 boots, you should now have the 3.5 floppy drive back.
