Aptiva - 2163/2164 Considerations - Explorer caused ipf in <unknown>@0000:7c25d0d0

Description:
This consideration is regarding the IPF error "Explorer caused IPF in <unknown>@0000:7c25d0d0" that occurs after installing ViaVoice.

Models affected:
2163 and 2164

How to duplicate:
To recreate the problem, load US ViaVoice and complete microphone setup. Click ôyesö to ôstarting now (single US).ö Click microphone to turn on and error "Explorer caused IPF in <unknown>@0000:7c25d0d0" will appear. When this error is closed, Access Aptiva will no longer be open and the top icons on the desktop will appear under the voice bar. Restart the machine and Access will not open. After closing the error, the white active desktop recovery screen may appear. You do not always have to click the microphone to get this error. It will also appear when closing the Windows 98 Welcome window, or right clicking the voicebar for properties. This error will only appear right after installation, it will not appear again.

Root cause:

Workaround:
This problem occurs consistently only on the first initializing of the microphone and only if you select to load in the Startup group during the install. Once the user cancels out of the error, they should be able to continue without seeing the error again and hopefully the customer will follow the default install rather than customizing it.
