Servers - Data miscompare errors using IBM AntiVirus in Windows NT
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
- Data miscompare errors may be observed on a Server in a network connection.
- File transfer errors or file corruption may occur without warning when the Server is accessed by one or more Clients.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
All of the following must be true for this tip to apply:
- The System is any PC Server or Netfinity Server that is properly configured with hardware required for one or more network connections.
- The Server and LAN attached client(s)* are properly configured to run Microsoft Windows NT version 3.51 OR version 4.0.
- The Server is running SERVER SERVICES.
- The Server and LAN attached client(s)* are properly configured to run IBM AntiVirus V3.0 or higher.
- The "Check files when accessed" selection box (located in the "System Shield" function of IBM AntiVirus V3.0) is selected as indicated with a check in the box.
* The Client(s) may or may not be another PC Server / Netfinity server.
Workaround:
- The "Check files when accessed" selection box (located in the "System Shield" function of IBM AntiVirus V3.0) is un-checked as indicated without a check in the box.
- The problem has been reported to Microsoft for root cause.
