TP General - How to resolve POST 197 errors
Applicable to: World-Wide
How to Resolve POST Error 197.
This POST error indicates that the Hibernation File is too small when booting. It is usually caused by having increased the system memory. The procedures below will resolve this issue.
Note: The Hibernation file PM_HIBER.BIN must be in a non-compressed patition. If you have compressed your hard drive, you will need to ensure that you have an uncompressed area large enough for the hibernation file. A general rule of thumb to use is, System Memory+Video Memory=Hibernation File Space Needed. e.g 16MB of RAM + 2 MB Video = 18MB of Hi bernation file space. Hibernation only works in FAT or HPFS partitions.
