Aptiva - How to set the Volume Control to play CDs in Windows 95
Applicable to: World-Wide
The following steps will allow control of volume when playing CDs in systems with Windows 95:
1. To open Volume Control: Click on the "Start" button, go to "Programs", "Accessories", "Multimedia", and click on "Volume Control". Your screen should look like Figure 1.

2. Click on "Options". A drop down menu appears. If there is no check before "Advanced", click on it to place a check there and close the drop-down menu.* This causes three buttons labled "Advanced" to appear on the program under the "Master", "CD" and "Line" headings.
*Note: If these three "Advanced" buttons are already there when the program is opened, do not remove check.
3. Click on the "Advanced" button under the "CD" heading. Verify that there is a check in the "CD" box. If this check is not present, the CD will not work. Also, verify that the "Mute" options at the bottom of each of the slides are not selected or that device will be muted.
4. Click "Close", and then click on the "X" in the upper right-hand corner to close "Volume Control".
