Aptiva - 2158/2163/2164 Considerations - AGP card must be primary video device
Applicable to: World-Wide
Description:
Install 2 graphics cards (can be any two graphics cards, not just the Creative card or the ATI card), with multiple monitors enabled, drag a video window back and forth across the screens, and the system will pop up an error message and stop playing the video.
Systems affected:
All machine types that support multiple monitors are affected (everything from 2140/2142 through 2158/2163/2164)
How to duplicate:
a) Install a second graphics adapter in the system
b) each graphics card must be set to a different color depth
c) Start a video clip with Active Movie
d) Drag the video window back and forth across the two screens. Eventually a windows message box will open and the video window will stop playing the video
Root cause:
Root cause likely in the video application/Microsoft as this occurs with multiple graphics card combinations
Workaround:
Workaround in one of two ways:
a) Set both systems to the same color depth
c) Leave the movie in one monitor while it is playing
And to correct if the error occurs:
b) When movie stops, shut the player and reopen
