Aptiva - Parity check error
Applicable to: United States
Parity Check Using Excel, Lotus 123, One Write Plus, or OS/2 Warp for Service Level B and Service Level C.
If you have difficulty using the above software packages with your system, the problem is due to the software package and the computer hardware performing parity checks at the same time. The resulting conflict causes the 'Parity Check' error you have seen. The model machines affected are Service Level B and Service Level C of the PS/1 and Aptiva product lines, respectively. The Service Level denotation is on the front surface of your computer or on the door. These parity checks can be easily resolved doing the following:
The location of Jumper 50 must be moved to the opposing two leads. For instance, if the jumper is on leads 1 & 2, change it to leads 2 & 3. The 'Parity Check' should go away. If the problem persists and you have installed extra memory for your computer, remove the new memory.
