Aptiva - 2158/2163/2164 Considerations - Audio Languages cannot be selected/have incorrect text on certain DVDs
Applicable to: World-Wide
Description:
Audio Languages cannot be selected/have incorrect text on certain DVDs
Models affected:
All with DVD
How to duplicate:
1. Play any MGM DVD, or a PAL title such as "Mars Attacks"
2. Right click on the video surface
3. Try to change the audio; it will either be blocked or have trash for the language name. In these cases, if selection is allowed the audio may be muted.
Root cause:
All these discs do not support mid-stream audio switching. Correct behavior is to prevent switching as occurs on MGM DVDs. There are issues with the Microsoft DVD navigator state machine, leading to the trash in the menu and the muting of any AC-3 audio track during mid-stream switches.
Workaround:
Enable alternate audio tracks from the authored in DVD audio menu.
