TP General - How to install/remove ICDRAM memory
Applicable to: World-Wide
How to install/remove ICDRAM memory:
1. Power the Thinkpad off.
2. Lift the ThinkPad keyboard up.
3. Remove the Fixed Disk Drive by pulling up on the blue tabs.
4. To INSTALL: Place the card onto the tray face up and then slide towards the system.
To REMOVE: Pull on the tab/tape that is attached to the IC DRAM towards yourself until it comes out.
5. Place the FDD back into the system. Be careful not to press in the center of the drive.
6. Close the keyboard.
7. Power the unit up.
Some considerations:
If the IC DRAM is non-parity, disable parity checking inside EasySetup (point to document or include info on how to get into Easy Setup for each system type) under Config and then Memory. Most of the time if this is the case and parity checking has not been disabled a post error of 201 will be generated. Adding memory will require the hibernation file to be increased if it is being used.
1. At a command prompt type PS2 HFILE D and press the Enter key.
2. Type PS2 HFILE C and press the Enter key.
