PS/1 - How can I add a non-IBM audio/sound card to my 2011 or 2121 PS/1?
Applicable to: United States
As audio/sound cards increase in popularity, many people wish to add one to their PS/1. An audio/sound card can be added to 2011 and 2121 PS/1 systems in the following manner.
All audio/sound cards require the system to have a free expansion slot. Since 2011 and 2121 PS/1 systems do not have expansion slots (except for the B82), the Adapter Card Unit will be needed. The ACU attaches to the top of the PS/1 system unit and provides 3 AT bus expansion slots. In one of these new slots, any AT bus audio/sound card, less than 11 inches in length, can be installed. Many popular and widely supported audio/sound cards are on the market. Some examples are SoundBlaster, SoundBlaster Pro, Pro Audio Spectrum, Adlib, and Thunderboard.
