Aptiva - How to get audio under the Windows 95 operating system

Applicable to: United States

You may have noticed that when you go to the Control Panel, then Multimedia, then Audio, it may show that the Mwave drivers are installed but the slider bar above it is set to zero volume and is grayed-out so it can not be changed. If this is so then this control is disabled due to the Mwave drivers being configured in another location. You must use the Volume Control to setup Mwave.

In order to do this go into Accessories - Multimedia - Volume Control. You will be presented with the 'Master Speaker Out' screen. Make sure the various devices that feed the speaker are not muted, and their volume settings are reasonable.

To set up for recording, (from the 'Master Speaker Out' screen above) select Options - Properties - Recording and check all the volume control boxes, then click OK. You will be presented with the 'Master Record In' screen. Make sure whatever you want to use for recording is not muted and the volume is reasonable.
