TP 310E/ED,315ED - MS Backup will not backup to floppy disk

SYMPTOM:
When trying to backup to floppy disks using MS Backup in Windows 95 or Windows 98, it does not read the floppy drive.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 310 or 315 running Windows 95 or Windows 98 using the MS Backup program.
SOLUTION:
IBM is currently looking into the nature of this problem. As a work around you can follow the procedures outlined below:
1. Click on Start ==> Settings ==> Control Panel ==> System.
2. Click on the Device Manager tab.
3. Click on the plus (+) sign next to Floppy disk controllers.
4. Double click on Standard floppy disk controller.
5. In the Device Usage section, click in the box that says Disable in this hardware profile.
6. Click on OK and then Close.
