IBM 3153 ASCII Terminal Display - Displays CHECK in the status line when powered on

Symptom:
The 3153 displays 'CHECK' in the status line when the terminal is powered on.
Background Information:
During a 3153 power on, it displays:
- 'PASS' when the 3153 powers on passing power-on Level 0 diagnostic tests.
- 'CHECK' when the 3153 powers on and the 3153 fails any Level 0 diagnostic test. The failing Level 0 diagnostic test is stored/recorded. The user/operator can inquire about the error by using the 'Diagnostics' feature.
Power-On Level 0 Diagnostic tests include:
- 3153 Random Access Memory (RAM) addressing read/write test.
- 3153 Read Only Memory (ROM) addressing test.
- 3153 Character Generator RAM addressing read/write test.
- 3153 Non-Volatile Random Access Memory (NVRAM.)
- 3153 keyboard communication test.
Resolution:
- Enter 3153 setup menu and press 'Print' key to display the 'Execute Menu'.
- Reset the 3153 by selecting 'Default Terminal'. This resets the 3153 to IBM Factory Default Settings.
- Reconfigure the 3153 by selecting the desired setup parameters and values.
- Save the 3153 settings by selecting 'Save Terminal'.
- Power off 3153.
- Power on 3153.
- If 3153 redisplays 'CHECK' replace 3153 monitor/video and keyboard elements.
